DIY Mini EMS Style Project
Some years ago this project started when I sourced a tiny 10 X 10 pin matrix from Ghielmetti. I thought it would be fun to try to make approx. half size version of the iconic VCS3. ...

West Coast
In the 1960’s I was in a record shop and under the classical music section found an album of “Silver Apples of the Moon” by Morton Subotnick.
On listening I was mesmerised. It the first totally electronic music I had heard. I knew nothing at the time how this was made and had never heard of a Buchla synthesizer.
03
The Solx452
This is another EMS inspired project with some modules cloned or modified from EMS.
It was fun to build and to see how some of the original modules performed.
04
The Steiner Parker Microcon
This is my take on the Microcon. It’s almost identical circuitry to the original, with a few modifications. I built it in a small plastic enclosure and added a built in speaker. It runs on an external 12V AC wall wart power supply.

The Frequency Shifter
Harald Bode was a German engineer and is considered a pioneer of electronic musical instruments.
In 1935, he began working in the field of electronic musical instruments. His earliest project, the Warbo Formant Organ, was completed in 1937. It was a four voice key-assignment keyboard with two formant filters and dynamic envelope controller.
